Visit the largest village of the island, Filoti, with its narrow streets, the archaeological site of the temple of Dionysus (Bacchus) in Livadia, the beautiful village Chalki (or Chalkio), which is located in the heart of one of the most fertile plains of Naxos. Before leaving the blessed island try the cheeses of Naxos, such as Graviera and “Arseniko” and buy potatoes and a bottle of liqueur Citrus Naxos.
How to get to Naxos
Naxos was known in ancient times for its marble. Between the vallies of Fleriou, Melanes and Potamia, great ancient quarries were found, which had flourished in the 7th century. Giant unfinished statues were discovered there, such as the Kouros of Fleriou with a length 5.5 meters, which dates back to 570 B.C.
