Agios Efstratios ferry tickets
It is a beautiful small island, that is worth visiting and getting to know its beauties, its history and its hospitable inhabitants. Agios Eftratios was named after St. Efstratios, who lived on the island as an exile, and died there in the 9th c. His grave is near the port of the island.
The island is of volcanic origin, with a little vegetation but a rich subsoil. Archaeological findings show that Agios Efstratios was inhabited since the Mycenaean era.
The excavations revealed the ruins of Neai, the ancient town of the island. The only settlement of the island is located on its northwestern shore, where there is also a picturesque small port.
A powerful earthquake struck the island in 1968, almost destroying the settlement. Rooms to let are available on the island, and the visitors can enjoy the hospitality of the locals and the tranquility of the place.
You can swim in the gorgeous beaches of the island: Agios Antonios, Agios Dimitrios, Ftilio, Lidario, Panagia and Kalami. Besides, you can travel around the island with a small boat and visit the sea caves. A lot of them are shelters for the Mediterranean Monk Seal.

The small island of Agios Efstratios or Ai Stratis, as it is called by the locals, has a surface of 45 km2. It is located between Lesvos and Limnos (where it belongs administratively).
It is one of the islands of the so called “non profit line”. During summer time, the island is connected with the port of Piraeus and the islands of Northern Aegean by means of coastal navigation.
