Islands located between Naxos and Amorgos, Pano (upper) and Kato (lower) Koufonissi belong to the complex of the East Cyclades. Kato Koufonissi is almost uninhabited and has wonderful deserted beaches and the church of Panagia.
It is ideal for day trips. Kato Koufonissi is the smallest and least populated island in the Cyclades and, in recent years, has experienced major tourist development thanks to exotic beaches with crystal clear waters and its village.
The large fleet of the island supplies the taverns with abundant fish and seafood. The island retains its natural beauty and traditional charm.

Koufonissi is a genuine fishing village. All the residents are involved in fishing and as they say: the boats are more than the residents.
The sea area between Pano Koufonissi, Kato Koufonissi and Κeros was known in ancient times as Κofos port. Cycladic cemeteries and facilities were found in Pano Koufonissi and Kato Koufonissi. (3rd millennium B.C.)
Antiquities of historical times have also been found in Kato Koufonissi. The islands were used as pirate lairs in the Middle Ages.
