During your tour in Psara you can visit the house of the legendary bourlottier Konstandinos Kanaris. Besides, it is worth visiting the monastery of the Assumption (Kimiseos tis Theotokou). Located in the northern edge of the island and founded in 17th c., when Psara were experiencing a great economic boom. The library of the monastery houses rare manuscripts and religious books printed in Venice and Moscow.
Psara is an attraction for a lot of visitors because of their gorgeous beaches.It is impressing that beaches of various kinds exist on the island, satisfying the preferences of every visitor, who can find long sandy beaches, beaches with pebbles, closed bays and little harbours sheltered from the winds.
One of the beaches nearest to town is Katsouni, in the east of the settlement, boasting the largest tourist presence. It is sandy and with shallow waters. Every year a beach volley tournament takes place in Katsouni.
The continuation of Katsouni is the gulf of Agia Kiriaki, where you can also enjoy your bath. In the northern side of the settlement, between the peninsulas of Mavri Rachi and Agios Georgios there is the pebbly beach of Kato Gialos.
One of the most beautiful beaches of the island is Lazareta. It is located in the southern part of the island and it is sandy and with shallow waters. One the biggest beaches of Psara is Laka. It is located on the western side of the island.
In the vicinity of the beach there are the rocky islets of Nisopoula and Ai Nikolaki. A small peninsula separates Laka from Archontiki, a magnificent beach with sand and pebbles. In a distance of about 100 metres the islet Daskalio is located. In the gulf of the harbour of Psara there is the beach of Limnos, a marvelous beach with pebbles, just 4 kms away from the town.
Psara are ideal for quiet holidays, for vacations where someone could break away from the hectic pace and stress of a big city.

The island is famous for the fresh fish and the lobsters, that visitors could find in every tavern. Besides, you could taste the local curd cheese (mizithra) and the kopanisti –creamy,peppery cheese. Buy also the local thyme honey Psara is famous for.

Psara is a small island of the Northeast Aegean, with a name written down in golden letters in the Modern Greek history, since its contribution to the Greek War of Independence of 1821 was decisive.
Psara is located southwest from Chios, 44 nautical miles away from Chios port, with which Psara is connected on a daily basis. However, the closest harbor to Psara is Limnia of Chios, located 17 nautical miles away.
The Psara have a surface of 42 km2, and most of its land,excepting the flatland, is infertile. The only settlement on the island is amphitheatrically built around the historical port of the island. The architecture of this settlement follows the Aegean tradition. Thus, the houses are – for the most part – two-storeyed, snow-white and with tile roofs.
