Symi ferry tickets
Symi was named after the wife of Glafkos, the first resident on earth. Its port is Gialos and the chora (capital) is built circumferentially and amphitheatrically around it.
The Central Archaeological Council declared the whole island as an archaeological site, because its monuments highlight its history from the prehistoric to the modern times. The well-preserved neoclassical houses, following the traditional architecture, are the hallmark of the island.
Visitors are impressed from the first moment of their approach to the port of Simi, since the intense colors of its houses are breathtaking. On the highest place of the capital the Castle of the Knights of St. John was located, and nowadays visitors can see its remains.
The island has beautiful beaches, and a lot of them are not easily accessible. Small boats leaving from Gialos facilitate access to those beaches.
