Lavrio Port
In ancient years it was known for its mines, which began working again at the beginning of the 20th century. Today the mines are closed and Lavrio is now known for its port, which serves isolated islands nearby. Lavrio is 60 km from the center of Athens and 25 km from the airport.
Destinations:
Most ships depart Lavrio for the islands of Kea and Kythnos. It also serves islands of the Northern Aegean, such as Limnos, Agios Efstratios and Samothraki.
HOW TO GET TO LAVRIO
FROM THE CENTER OF ATHENS
By bus: KTEL Buses for Lavrio leave from the Pedion Tou Areos usually every hour and the ride lasts an hour and a half, depending on traffic. To go to Pedion Tou Areos, take the metro to Victoria Square and walk along Hevden Street.
FROM THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OF ATHENS
KTEL buses from Athens airport arrive in Lavrio in 30 minutes. There are usually routes every hour.
